61st Commission on the Status of Women 2017

The sixty-first session of the Commission on the Status of Women will take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 13 to 24 March 2017 on the theme "Women’s economic empowerment in the changing world of work".

The Commission on the Status of Women is the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women.

Representatives of Member States, UN entities, and ECOSOC-accredited non-governmental organizations (NGOs), including local and regional governments, from all regions of the world are invited to attend the session. 

The event will be an opportunity to review the challenges and achievements in the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals for women and girls and to explore how to achieve SDG5 and gender equality across the 2030 Agenda.
