UCLG celebrates the first International Day of Care and Support!

On this International Day of Care and Support, let us come together, envision a feminist future, and catalyze action – for caring cities and territories in all parts of the world!

As caring cities and territories, We, the organized constituency of local and regional governments, advance a feminist agenda that guarantees equal rights for all, empowers local communities, and puts the well-being of people and planet as the highest priority.

Through UCLG’s Pact for the Future we boldly commit to a feminist way of doing local politics towards a new social contract, for the Future of People, Planet and Government. Our Pact is a call to Hope and collective action for equality and sustainability.

Reaffirming our common humanity and mutual interdependence, we choose to place CARE at the heart of all local public policies and services. Care for the human rights of all people and care for the integrity of our planet.

In unfolding the Pact, the UCLG Decalogue presented to the 2023 SDG Summit, ‘Towards cities, governments and a multilateral system that care for people, democracy, and our planet’, celebrated the Global Alliance for Care as one of the key high-impact locally-led coalitions critical to accelerate achievement of the SDGs.

We continue to inspire transformational change through a strong political commitment to the care agenda:

✨Transforming our relation with our ecological systems
✨Strengthening our democracies and multilateral systems through solidarity and subsidiarity
